Brian Neilan, FCA

Brian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. Brian was a Partner in PwC Ireland and retired from the firm as at 30 Sept 2017. He now operates as a consultant.
Brian has more than 30 years’ experience of auditing and advising companies in the Financial Services sector. He has gained significant industry and regulatory experience during that time and has an in-depth knowledge of regulatory and other market issues relating to the financial services industry in Ireland. Brian was the audit partner on a range of companies across the financial services sector. These have included companies like AIG, Pinebridge, Friends First, Zurich, CNP Life, Barclays, RSA and Allianz. His portfolio also included a range of cross border and captive companies and has included regular interaction with boards and audit committees as part of the process.
Brian acted as Irish Insurance leader as part of the PwC Global Insurance group. As part of his role in PwC, Brian was part of a management team responsible for managing a large portfolio of clients and staff of circa 100 people.
Brian has been a professional advisor to financial services businesses particularly insurance companies with an emphasis on accounting and regulatory issues. He has also experience in the asset management and banking sectors.
On a personal level, Brian has been heavily involved with Down Syndrome and acted as treasurer of Down Syndrome Ireland for a number of years. He is currently involved with the Down Syndrome Centre and is part of various focus groups planning for the future.
